Projects

Schools Connect tutors are volunteering to support students in a number of schools across Cambridge.

This year we have tutors working on Maths and English with students at Ridgefield Primary School and Newnham Croft Primary School, and reading with students at The Galfrid School. Tutors are also supporting secondary students at Chesterton Community College across a range of subjects.

We offer small group support, and primarily work with students on Pupil Premium, those with English as their second language and students with special educational needs. Most of our projects focus on building core skills like literacy, English language, science and maths, as well as French, Spanish and history.

Schools Connect is committed to supporting both the academic and pastoral development of the students we work with by getting to know them and how they learn best. Working in small groups gives students the valuable opportunity to ask questions, deepen their learning and go at their own pace, which can be hard in a classroom.

Ultimately, across all our projects, the main aim of Schools Connect is to raise the self-confidence and aspirations of each student we work with. We want to support the vital and incredible work that teachers and schools are already doing every day and build up from a personal level to help tackle educational disadvantage and inequality in Cambridge.
